Pumpkin pie is kind of the cornerstone of any Thanksgiving feast. Even if it’s not your favorite festive dessert, chances are, you can’t imagine your feast without one. While it’s super simple to pick up a pie at the store, there is just something special about making it yourself. The methods vary, of course, you can buy a can of packed pumpkin at the store, or you can hollow out a pie pumpkin on your own!

But maybe this year you’re looking for a new recipe to mix things up a bit. If so, here are five out-of-the-box pumpkin pie recipes to try this year!

  1. Apple Pumpkin Pecan Pie
You’ve heard of tur-duck-en, right? It’s a meat dish that puts a chicken inside of a duck inside of a turkey. Well, this is the dessert version. It takes all of the traditional Thanksgiving sweet pies, apple, pumpkin, and pecan, and blends them all into one treat. It might sound like a flavor explosion, and maybe like a bit too much, but the flavors are said to pair well − the buttery pecans balancing the crisp apples, and the sweet pumpkin bringing it all together.
  2. No Bake Pumpkin Surprise Pie
No time to bake? No longer a concern. This pie holds a secret. And it’s one that you’re going to love. Since most people love whipped cream on their pie, this baker decided that it also belonged INSIDE the pie! The layer here is a traditional pie with whipped cream. So, how do you pull it off? Start with cooled Cool-whip, and add a pre-baked pumpkin “pudding” layer on top. Yum!
  3. S’More Pumpkin Treats
Bring the best part of summer camping (the s’mores!) inside for fall with this tart. It blends pumpkin pie with chocolate and marshmallow to create a unique treat that everyone will want some-more (get it? S’more?) of!
  4. Pumpkin Cheesecake
Bring two classics together for a creamy, cool treat that is sure to impress. Trust us when we say that this one only sounds difficult! It’s actually pretty simple to make, and incredibly impressive on the plate. The recipe calls for pumpkin spice in the crust as well as the filling, creating a one-two punch of fall flavor!
  5. Pumpkin Ice Cream Pie
We all love a good ice cream cake, so we think that an ice cream pie is a sure-fire success story waiting to happen. In this recipe, you’ll be blending ice cream and pumpkin pie to make a delicious dessert for your Thanksgiving feast. Get this- the secret ingredient is actually orange juice!

We’re dying to know if you try one of these! If you do, please share photos and let us know how it turned out!
