It takes more than a female reproductive system in order to be a great egg donor.
In addition to having the right biology, we need our donors to be outstanding, loving, compassionate women who are dedicated to changing the world for couples in need. In addition, there are several requirements you need to meet in order for fertility clinics to be able to work with you.
To make things a bit simpler, here’s a look at what it takes to qualify as an egg donor with Family Inceptions.
You meet the requirements to be an egg donor if you:
Between the ages of 21 and 29
Currently attending for or completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
A minimum GPA of 2.5
Are in good health, including: No Sexually Transmitted Diseases. No family history of genetic diseases. Not have any psychiatric illness, on antidepressant medication or undergoing treatment for depression including no family history of mental illness Healthy Body Mass Index (BMI) Find your BMI here Non-tobacco user, non-drug user and is not alcohol dependent Cannot be on or have had the Depo- Provera shot or the Implanon/Nexplanon implant for at least 12 months Not a carrier of the gene or genetic mutation for certain diseases or syndromes (i.e. Tay-Sachs, Sickle Cell Anemia, Cystic Fibrosis).
Flexibility in your schedule to attend all doctors’ appointments
Have not acquired any tattoos, piercings, or blood transfusions in the past 12 months
Able and willing to administer injections yourself or have someone who can do this for you
Have reliable transportation
Have not completed more than five egg donations (donors can donate no more than six times based on the American Society of Reproductive Medicine guidelines)
